Jerwood Foundation

The Jerwood Foundation was established by Alan Grieve for John Jerwood in 1977. Following John Jerwood's death in 1991, the Foundation has flourished under Alan Grieve's Chairmanship and inspiration. He has created and established the ethos of Jerwood which is to support excellence in all areas of human endeavour, principally in the arts, and education in its widest sense.

The Foundation has made a number of high profile capital grants reflecting its range of interests in the arts and education. These include major grants towards the Jerwood Theatres at the Royal Court in London, the Jerwood Rehearsal Stage for Glyndebourne Opera, the Jerwood Centre for the Prevention of Dance Injuries for Birmingham Royal Ballet, the Jerwood Library for the Performing Arts at Trinity College of Music in London, and the Jerwood Centre for The Wordsworth Trust in Cumbria.
